Welcome to the landing page for 2017’s Intercollegiate Engagement (Un)Conference, or IEC for short! Next year, we want to create new opportunities for dialogue between diverse disciplines and various college departments. We believe that universities can reach their highest potential when joined together by all of the working parts with the goal of student success. But, this potential is difficult to achieve, especially because academic subjects have traditionally been compartmentalized and divided, which discourages conversation and collaboration, even when scholars have a common goal in mind. But, thanks to new technologies and the growth of unique, interdisciplinary discourse, we believe that now is the perfect time to discuss how to go about engaging one another.

For this year’s conference, we invite you to join with us as we consider interdepartmental and intercollegiate tools such as collaborating to design information visualizations, promoting student engagement from room to room, using digital communication tools, and identifying interdisciplinary research trends in the digital humanities, particularly ecological studies and software engineering as art. We believe that these discussions will help you build a new foundation for research and instruction which you can carry with you to your schools and your departments. We look forward to seeing you!
